Today you fly from Amsterdam to Athens. Your trip through Greece has begun!

Upon arrival you will be picked up by your driver for the transfer to your accommodation located outside of Athens, close to the diving center.

During these six days we take a dive every day to contribute to a cleaner ocean. During our dives we collect as much plastic and other waste as possible from the sea. After each dive this is sorted and weighed, you can collect a few kilos of debris from the sea every day!

Would you rather not dive? Then opt for the beach clean-up project and ensure that no more waste goes into the sea. As soon as the divers return from the sea, you help sort the waste.

You will not only learn valuable information and gain a great experience (as a diver), you will be part of the larger movement to protect the oceans and keep them clean for marine life.

To participate in this volunteer project you do not need to have a diving license (PADI). You can get this on the project.⁠

After we have cleaned up dozens of kilos of waste, it is time to explore Greece further. We travel back to bustling Athens, the city with the most glorious history in the world. In the afternoon we will introduce you to the highlights of this beautiful city. Our fascinating tour begins at the foot of the rock, following the uphill path leading to the magnificent Acropolis. Visit the principal buildings of the Propylea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and the Parthenon Temple. We continue with a panoramic tour of this Ancient city where you will visit more extraordinary sights including the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and Hadrian’s Arch. Continuing to Syntagma Square, we view the Royal Palace, originally built for Otto I of Bavaria, which is now the present-day Parliament building. In front of the Palace stands the Monument of the Unknown Soldier where two soldiers (Evzoni) stand guard continuously.  Our final visit takes us to view the glorious Panathenaikon Stadium (from outside), which stands on the site of the Ancient marble Stadium.

Early in the morning the transfer to Naxos, the largest and greenest island of the Cyclades, follows. The island was once a Venetian property, so many of the villages have Venetian architecture. When entering the harbour we immediately get acquainted with the rich history of the island, when we see the immense marble entrance to the unfinished Apollo temple to our left. The impressive Venetian residential castle dominates the city, which with its narrow streets and numerous restaurants gives an attractive impression.

You will stay in the luxurious Lagos Mare hotel ideally located near one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe with soft sand and crystal clear water. Here you can enjoy the rest of the day.

Make sure you don't eat an extensive breakfast, because today a Naxos Food Walking tour is on the program. Naxos is a gastronomical paradise which provides a wide variety of unique produce. Their livestock gives them choice meat and dairy products, prized for their taste. The fertile western side of the island fills their kitchens with the famed Naxian potato, while the mountainous areas provide them with olive oil every winter. Follow us through Naxos’ narrow lanes, while together we enjoy the delicious produce which includes their famous Naxos citron.

Today it is time to relax. Unwind on the sandy beaches of the island, hike through the paradisiacal valleys such as those of Tragaia and Melanes or visit one of the most beautiful cycladic towns, Naxos Town (Chora). From the harbour to the top near the Venetian castle it is cozy with narrow shopping streets and the boulevaard is full of terraces. Now that you are there, don't forget to see the beautiful sunset through the Portara!

In the afternoon we continue our journey across the Cyclades to the island of Paros, which is just a stone's throw from Naxos. After flying for half an hour, we arrive in the morning on this lovely island.
 

Unparalleled natural beauty, beaches with crystal clear water, beautiful Byzantine walking paths between traditional villages and breathtaking landscapes make Páros, located in the heart of the Cyclades, one of the most popular holiday destinations in Greece. In the upcoming days we will admire the colourful villages, with the traditional white houses and churches, and sun-drenched beaches of this island.

You will stay in the luxurious Mr & Mrs White Boutique hotel, located a stone's throw from breathtaking beaches and the main town of Paros, Naoussa. Today we enjoy a lazy day on a traditional Kaiki. You can enjoy a wonderful day around the beautiful coastline of Antiparos. The boat is leaving from Pounta and will take you to Pantalonisia where you will have your first stop for swimming. The water is crystal blue and looks like a natural swimming pool. On the beautiful beach of Faneromeni there will be a barbeque organized for you, while you are enjoying the sun and the sea. You will be amazed from the pureness and beauty this small island offers. Afterwards, we will head towards Mastichari cave where you will make a photo stop. From the cave we will turn back to Pounta port.

Na een aantal heerlijke dagen vervolgen we onze tocht over de Cycladen naar het liefelijke eiland Paros.
 

Ongeëvenaarde natuurlijke schoonheid, stranden met kristalhelder water, prachtige Byzantijnse wandelpaden tussen traditionele dorpen en adembenemende landschappen maken Páros, gelegen in het hart van de Cycladen, een van de meest geliefde vakantiebestemmingen in Griekenland. De komende dagen bewonderen we de kleurrijke dorpjes, met de traditionele witte huisjes en kerkjes, en de zonovergoten stranden van dit eiland.

Today is a wonderful free day. Paros has miles of sandy beaches, where the waves of the Mediterranean bump up nicely: the dream island for sun lovers! Do you want to sniff some culture? Visit Parikia, the main town of the island with a 13th-century Venetian citadel and a somewhat bizarre cathedral, the Church of 100 Doors. Or stroll through one of the other beautiful traditional villages such as Náousa, a colourful village where the ruins of a Venetian fortress are at the entrance to the small harbour.

Vandaag genieten we van een luie dag op een traditionele Kaiki. Rond de prachtige kustlijn van Antiparos kunt u genieten van een prachtige dag. De boot vertrekt vanuit Pounta en brengt ons naar Pantalonisia voor de eerste stop om te zwemmen in het kristalblauwe water dat eruit ziet als een natuurlijk zwembad. Op het prachtige strand van Faneromeni wordt er een barbecue voor u georganiseerd als lunch, terwijl u geniet van de zon en de zee. U zult versteld staan van de puurheid en schoonheid die dit kleine eiland biedt. Daarna gaan we naar de Mastichari-grot waar voor een fotostop. Vanuit de grot keren we terug naar de haven van Pounta.

Helaas is vanavond alweer de laatste avond van deze reis! Daarom genieten we samen van een afscheidsdiner in het prachtige Paros.

A delicious breakfast and a final swim in the pool marks the end of the trip. It is time to say goodbye, but we will never forget the times we shared in Greek waters. From Paros you fly back to capital Athens for the connecting flight back to Amsterdam. Time to dream about the next trip, South-Africa perhaps?
